using libxml

I was wondering if anybody know if there are any white paper/
documents on the using the gnome xml lib? I have read the short
documentation for the libxml and I have the reference manual from
gnome-xml and xml-io.c from gnumeric. 

I'm looking for more informations about namespaces and how to build a
file format (in a smart way preferably).
