what is gtk_bin_add?

hi,

i'm currently working on a gnome frontend to the security tool tripwire.
i frequently get the following error message whenever i start the
client:

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkbin.c: line 217 (gtk_bin_add): assertion
`bin->child == NULL' failed.

does anyone on this list have an idea what gtk_bin_add is for? i've had
similar errors with several widgets which i could fix (the respective
widget functions were documented in the gtk-tutorial), but i've no idea
what this one is about; i believe it's got something to do with the
gnome-startup mechanism since i didn't have the error before i changed
from pure gtk to gnome.

any help appreciated, thanks in advance.
