Changing fonts on desktop icons?

Greets,

Is it possible to change the font on the desktop icons?
If I change the gnome font via the theme manager, the
fonts on the panel, the menus, etc, etc, all change,
but the icon labels on the desktop do not - they seem
to stay the same regardless.

Why is this?
