Just exit out of the application. That is exit, from the commands menu
for GMC. For gnome-help-browser, you may need to kill it off manually
with gtop or from a terminal window. When you logout, gnome-session
should note which applications are running, and only save them to the
session file. This way the help browser and GMC will not start
automatically.
