gmc and thumbnails (again)

Hello!

  I  tried to  use the  thumbnail  support in  gmc (latest  CVS), but  I
think this is not working.
  I switched on  the "Allow customization of icons in icon  view" in the
Preferences   dialog,   generated   the   thumbnails   with   make-thumb
~/img/*.jpg, but  when I  enter the corresponding  directory, I  see the
system default  icons, not  the thumbnails.  Can you help  me how  I can
make it work?
