Two pagers, want one

Still getting a handle on separating gnome questions from wm questions...
I think this is a gnome question...

At some point yesterday I ended up with two four panel pagers, and I only
want one.  This may sound strange, but the second one seems to shadow the
first.  Almost like an evil twin, and in fact, the background of the
second is black.  :-)  What do I need to do to get back to just one four
panel pager?
