I'm also getting this gnome-name-server freeze as well. It's been driving
me nuts. I wasn't sure whether it was caused by:

	- a move to Debian potato
	- a move to GLIBC 2.1
	- a move to kernel 2.2.3

which all happened around the same time. I've got the ORBit 4.0 tarball so
I'll give that a whirl and see what happens.
