Hello,
    Edit your ~/.gftp/gftprc file. There is a use proxy option....read the
comments above it and set it up appropriately for your ftp proxy
configuration. Below it you can set your ftp proxy
username/password/host and port. Right now, it won't work with http
proxies, but I will have something out this week since I am on spring
break from school.
