gnome-session?

Hello,
I compiled all the rpms for gnome on my redhat 5.2 release. I then touch
.Xclient and
made it executable, then I enter the command exec gnome-session in
.Xclient. I then
shutdown X and restarted it. I still get my old screens. So, I then did
a find for gnome-session.
"find / -name gnome-session -print" nothing found. Next I check /usr/bin
and found
gnome-run, so i substituted gnome-run for gnome-session, I'm grabbing
thing out of the air.
Still nothing, what am I missing?
