CVS versions

Hi,
  Being a fairly experimentally-minded person, I'm interested in trying
out the CVS versions of Gnome and Enlightenment.  I'm currently using
the standard release versions of both of these installed from RPMs.

  What is the best way to go about installing the CVS versions?  Do I
have to uninstall Gnome and Enlightenment first, or can I do an
upgrade and keep settings and so on?  In case it makes a difference,
I'm using RedHat 6.0.
