gnome & error handling

Hi there,

When I choose an entry in the panel menu, say 'emacs', and it doesn't exist
on my system (or in my path), it will just silently fail (except for output
on the console desktop). Wouldn't it be better to give an error message and
maybe a try-to-find dialog?

In general, I think it would be nice to have a set of standard error
handlers in GNOME. Is anyone working on this? I don't think it would be very
hard to define a number of those, but I think it's pretty core gnome stuff
(that is: gnome-libs, not gnome-core ;-), so I'd like to know what others
think. Also, it's probably violating feature-freeze....

Keep up the good work!

Cheers,
    Dirk-Jan.
