computer beeps on actions

Hi everyone.
I was wondering,,
Usually when I for instance used backspace to many times from color-xterm
my computer bell
would beep, or if I was paged from a mud.
Now however that has been replaced with my windows blinking
I know this is a very stupid thing but I cant figure out where the
settings for this is.
Can anyone help me getting my beeps back since I need it to be paged when
certain persons are on :)
