gnome-libs-0.99.7 installation problem

Hi,

I'm new to gnome, and this is my first install. I'm trying to install the
gnome libs (0.99.7), but having no luck.

The ./configure seems to run ok, but make fails. I think it's complaining
about the libXml package. I haven't got this installed, but I do have imlib
1.9.2 installed (which implies it's a replacement for it). If I do need
libXml can someone tell me where to download it from, because I can't seem
to see it on the ftp sites for gnome.
