Well, I have no idea why it works now, but last night I ftped all the
rpm's all over again, (of course today a NEWER release came out,
argh!) and sat here tonight and went thru the installation list from
the web site, one at a time, ran ldconfig after _every_ single rpm,
and voila, my gnome appears to be working now. At least the panel
works, and thats a step up! Thank you every one who tried to help
me, ever though your suggestions didn't work.
(So...anyone want to explain to me how to use the cvs server to
pick up the new releases? :))
