CORBA apps don't appear under Linux 2.0.x

Over the past few weeks my panel and other gnome CORBA apps launch, but
don't appear, when running Linux kernel version 2.0.36.  

I have seen in the list, and have personally verified, that this problem is
alleviated by running a 2.2.x kernel.  However, I am not yet prepared to run
the newer kernel on my computer, and I do not see the bug mentioned in
ORBit's TODO file.  

I am just curious what the status of the fix for this is?
