I think
 it is a very good idea to have a complete tree
with all necessary for installing gnome from scratch.

You must carefull with FTP installation because :

 - All people have not internet connection on the PC where they install
the product
 - There are people with FIREWALL and this need some specific command.

 I think the the best is that the scrip know what version is needed
for ecach packages and to update it when version changes.
