can't find background-properties-init etc...

In the gnome documentation for installing gnome it says to put the
following lines in our xinitrc:
panel &
background-properties-init &
screensaver-properties-init &
mouse-properties-init &
Unfortunately, those scripts cannot be found. I've looked for them on
my computer and they aren't there. Can someone help ? thanks...
