gnome terminal / vim color syntax

Hi,

I have started using gnome-terminal a lot lately, and have noticed that
I can't get it to display the colors that vim uses for syntax highlighting.
It does fine with lynx and color ls. Mutt displays the colors fine
but the thread indicators are displayed differently than normal.

I have a hunch that changing to a certain term type in the prefs might
solve these things.  Anyone know what to change it to?
