I don't know how many other apps do this, but after I run esound, my esd
(fresh as of last night) gobbles up all available CPU with the following
(relative time stamps included for your inspection) loop of events:
0.000393 accept(4, 0xbffffbc8, [16]) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource
temporarily unavailable)
0.000174 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
0.000263 select(8, [4 5 6 7], NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 2 (in [6
7], left {0, 20000})
0.000391 accept(4, 0xbffffbc8, [16]) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource
temporarily unavailable)
0.000242 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
0.000265 select(8, [4 5 6 7], NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 2 (in [6
7], left {0, 20000})
0.000392 accept(4, 0xbffffbc8, [16]) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource
temporarily unavailable)
0.000175 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
0.000264 select(8, [4 5 6 7], NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 2 (in [6
7], left {0, 20000})
0.000456 accept(4, 0xbffffbc8, [16]) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource
temporarily unavailable)
0.000175 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
0.000266 select(8, [4 5 6 7], NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 2 (in [6
7], left {0, 20000})
0.000390 accept(4, 0xbffffbc8, [16]) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource
temporarily unavailable)
0.000174 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
0.000330 select(8, [4 5 6 7], NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 2 (in [6
7], left {0, 20000})
0.000393 accept(4, 0xbffffbc8, [16]) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource
temporarily unavailable)
0.000231 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
0.000267 select(8, [4 5 6 7], NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 2 (in [6
7], left {0, 20000})
0.000454 accept(4, 0xbffffbc8, [16]) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource
temporarily unavailable)
0.000178 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout)
0.000264 select(8, [4 5 6 7], NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 2 (in [6
7], left {0, 20000})
0.000391 accept(4, 0xbffffbc8, [16]) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource
temporarily unavailable)
0.000175 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL= -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)
This will go on until I kill esd and restart it, at which time it is
fine again until I run esound again.
Thots?
