it actually won't be too hard to add size hints now that I think about it,
but it won't be there for 1.0 .... it will be one of the first things
for 1.2 I'd guess though ... right now ... you should assume that
the panel is 48 wide minimum ... but if you plan ahead it would also
help ... I think I want to do sizes of 24,48,64,80 once I get to it since
it's better to do discrete steps for applets .... but again ... this
is 1.2 stuff not 1.0 stuff
