It can be based on named pipes (I suppose they exists on LINUX as on
SYS V).
a shell and 2 tk scripts
A shell script is waiting for read on this pipe the name of the file and
depending
on the extension do the preferred action.
The gui can be written in tk with a drag ' drop extension. I don't know if
there
is such extension compatible between tk and gmc.
The harder (....:-) ) will be the manager of preference and action that
must generate
the script waiting on the pipe kill it an relaunch it after modification.
It's no more 0,5 day work.
I'm really sorry, but I have no time to do it by myself...
