quicklaunch_applet

Greetings, I'm running version 1.04 of the gnome-core and am having
troubles with the quicklaunch_applet. When I right click on the panel,
the quicklaunch option does not appear. But, if I run
quicklaunch_applet & from a terminal window, the applet dutifully
appears on my panel and is usable. I've tried to manually add it to my
panel.d/ but I don't know how to configure the Applet_#_Extern file.
