long lines in gnome-terminal

Long lines in gnome-terminal does not work. Make a long line, 200 chars
or something so that it takes up several lines. And try to edit it. If
it works then press enter followed by the up arrow to get the line back
and try to edit it again.

Since I use long lines quite often (long paths and lots of flags to rpm
f.ex.) this is a big problem. I have to use xterm in these cases.
