gnome-terminal doesn't exit when I type "exit"

When I launch gnome from gdm, open a gnome-terminal, and type "exit" the
terminal prints the word exit on the next line and just sits there. It
won't respond to commands anymore after that but typing on the keyboard
causes the letters to appear on the terminal. When I am not using gdm,
the program exits normally just like any xterm or similar program
would. Also, when I AM using gdm, xterm, eterm, and rxvt all exit
normally, it's just gnome-terminal that displays this behavior. Anyone
have any ideas?

Thanks,

Adam
