I would imagine if you want to start esd like that when you start gnome you
would edit Xclients or xinitrc to read:
esd -as 2 &
gnome-session
or you can just d/l eMusic witch works fine and uses esd and plays mp3's and
you don't have to edit and put extra commands or switches
