panel-arrow buttons

It would be nice if there was an option to make the panel's
hide buttons smaller. I know they can be disabled, but I
just want the ability to make them smaller. Perhaps an option
to not use the arrow images?

As a cheap hack I renamed the panel-arrow-*.png files in the
pixmap directory, restarted the panel, and now the buttons are
just the size I want. I wish this was an option.
