compiling gtk+

I'm compiling gnome in the order suggested by the FAQ, with
--prefix=/opt/gnome and ACLOCAL_FLAGS='-I /opt/gnome/share/aclocal'.

I get 'sh: indent not found'

Anybody know how to fix this?
