Another one with compiling problems :(

Hi,

For ages (or so it seems) have I tried to compile GNOME, but it fails to do so. GTK works fine (I eaven started proramming in it), but when I try to compile the gnome-libs, it stops with the following errors:
---
gcc -g -O2 -o .libs/htmltest test.o -Wl,-rpath -Wl,/usr/local/lib ../gtk-xmhtml/.libs/libgtkxmhtml.so -lXpm -ljpeg -lpng -lz -lz -lSM -lICE -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lgtk-1.1 -lgdk-1.1 -lglib-1.1 -lXext -lX11 -lm -lm
./gtk-xmhtml/.libs/libgtkxmhtml.so: undefined reference to `uncompress'
./gtk-xmhtml/.libs/libgtkxmhtml.so: undefined reference to `compress'
make[2]: *** [htmltest] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/hda6/tmp/gnome/gnome-libs-0.27/gtk-xmhtml'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/hda6/tmp/gnome/gnome-libs-0.27'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
---
Ok, I have read the FAQ (when I still had www access), and I upgraded the packet. (I'm running RH5.0). It didn't work.

Any sugestions?
I simply did a:
/configure
make
in the source dir.

Help appiciated,
