Apples to oranges...

Enlightenment is a window manager (good work raster and mandrake...)

GNOME is an environment (ie. file manager, panel, games, look&feel, how
the desktop acts, and much more).

I'm not much for giving really defined details about the two, but that
should give an initial idea of the differences.
