Hello,

By any chance, are you running X in 8-bit?
It seems to me that gdk-imlib can't draw images in 8-bit.
Try running the Imlib and gdk-imlib test programs.
If the gdk-imlib program crashes, try starting X in 16-bit or 32-bit
mode.
