it's the same glibc 1.99.xxx that is used in all ppc linuxes right now, including
the rpms from linuxppc.
i don't think there is reason why you could not install debian-powerpc on top of a mklinux kernel, but then i am not very knowledgeable on mac linuxes.
if you have a free partition, you should try it, and subscribe to debian-powerpc@lists.debian.org

in glibc 2.0 there is no support for ppc, nor sparc and this architectures use
glibc pre 2.1, who was only fixed recently to work for ppc.
a yes one problem is that you need a kernel with the chown/lchown situation fixed.
what is the situation of those on mklinux ?
there is a installation document at :
http://master.debian.org/~joey/powerpc/install.html
Hope this help.
(* but remember it is all still very alpha ... err not yet official, but it should work without much problems. *)
