I don't know what you're talking about: each message to gnome-list has 
the header

	To: gnome-list

in it.  I use the following in my vm-virtual-folder-list to form a
virtual folder of messages from all the gnome lists:

	("gnome"
	 (("INBOX")
	  (recipient "gnome")))
