Best linux distribution to use?

I have to reinstall my linux box and wanted to use E and gnome, and was just
curious if there is a prefered distribution to use?  I know E is being
developed closely with redhat, but the CVS seems to be more Debian friendly.
Or is it just personal preference?

Any suggestion would be appreciated (as I didnt see any mention of this on
the web page).
