very confusing panel?

I have updated my old panel with the latest from CVS...

ORBit
gnome-libs
gnome-core

But there is some problems, The panel-applets will not connect to panel
But they will appear like own applications on the desktop, the only way
to quit the applets is to kill them.

panel gives error like:

*** WARNING *** BAD COOKIE file: orbit-glue.c line: 182
*** WARNING *** BAD COOKIE file: orbit-glue.c line: 325

*** Gdk WARNING ***  XGetWindowAttributes failed on window ID 1076003898

and later on:

*** WARNING **: TIMED OUT waiting applet ID: 5

looks like ORBit is the problem, is it?
