gnome based spreadsheet anyone ?

Hi,

    Yesterday, I was forced (for the first time in my 15 year long
    career) to use a spreadsheet. Since this is a microsoft free
    computer, I used Xspread.

    Now Xspread, while more than adequate for my needs is rather old,
    and I've been looking with envy at some of the fancy spreadsheets
    my colleagues are using.

    I think a gnome based spreadsheet would be a good thing to have,
    but I can't believe I'm the first one to come to this
    conclusion. Couldn't find anything on the software list, though ?

    So: is anyone working on/willing to work on a gnome-based
    spreadsheet ? I'm willing to provide what help I can, (15 year's C
    experience, 5 year's X experience, no experience with
    spreadsheets, no practical gnome knowledge) but I'm rather short
    on time at the moment.
