I don't see where this error could come from. But then, I'm working
from the cvs repository; maybe it has been changed.
I think the "0.99.1" is probably just a mistake in the error message.
You definitely should *not* revert -- Gnome really does require a
relatively recent Gtk.
Could you look in your config.log to see what exactly is failing?
Maybe that would help. Is gtk-config in your PATH when you run
configure?
