This may be true.  There are valid reasons for wanting Texinfo,
however.

Tom Phelp's tkman (which mostly views manpages) does a very good job
at viewing texinfo, and it does this from source.  Using the texinfo
source allows it to get at information that's not preserved in the
info format (mostly for using fonts and things).

That's not the only way of looking at it, though.  Maybe a future
version of tkman will be able to read DocBook source.
