CPU Load Panel Applet

The Gnome TODO list has an entry under the "Panel" heading for a CPU
Load applet.  I'd like to get the stripchart program that I recently
announced set up to fill this role.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure what
the differences are between a stand-alone Gtk-based application (which
is what I have now), and a Gnome panel applet (which is what I want to
end up with).

Pointers, anyone?
