Debian menu -> GNOME .desktop

[ I've tried to send this to debian-devel but I'm not subscribed to it so
  maybe it will get through there :) for this reason if it does, reply to
  my email ]

I just looked over how debian "does" menus ... but I have too much to do
right now trying to write kde and redhat menu code .. so I thought someone
with debian menu experience could help me write this ... basically what I
need to do is to make a script that converts the debian menus to gnome
.desktop files ...

bvasically what I thought was to have the thing put the system menus into
$gnome-prefix/apps-debian/

this would be the exact same format as the $gnome-prefix/apps which are
the system gnome menus ...

I'll add the panel code to add this as one of the possibilities for a
system main menu for the user

if you need any more info on this .. please mail me ...
