I see, but it still feels wrong to use an external program for this, if the main
advantage of it is being generic perhaps it's functionality can be put in a library
instead of an executable?

Which is easier:
$ gmc --newwin
 or
$ new-instance gmc
(im not sure myselfe)

Perhaps there are other issues than how simple it is to type, but still, perhaps we
should think about this for just another moment or two (perhaps it's already been
thought over carefully, but i havn't seen it being discussed on the list) If you have
already made up your minds for some good cause and im just being stupid to whine please
ignore me =]
