Problem with panel

Today I downloaded gnome-core/libs/ORBit from anoncvs...
It compiled fine on my Linuxbox.
But when I start a gnome-session it will not work...
the panel applets will not be saved when exiting.
Next time I start X it will give errors like
*** WARNING *** could not get name service
and the panel will sigsegv
