ESD problems with gnome-session

Alrighty, I have two quick questions that hopefully someone can answer for
me.
1)  When I start gnome-session I get the port error, and I know that you
have to actually start the daemon, but I was wondering where people
suggest I start that.

2)  When I start gnome-ession with esd running I get this error:
/opt/gnome/lib/libgnome.so.0: undefined symbol: esd_sample_getid
Everything compiled wonderfully, and I don't understand why I"m getting
it.  Thanks a lot
