Error compiling gtk-xmhtml

I finally got around to setting up CVS instead of using the pre-built RPMS. 
When I compile the libs I get an error in gtk-xmhtml that reads:

undefined reference to `g_log'

I'm running Redhat 5.1 and I have most of the updates to it.  

Any help out there?  I'm guessing I probably have some wrong library, because
that error is similar to the common `compress', `uncompress' error.
