Problems running panel

I feel pretty dumb for asking the list this, but I'm pretty new to GNOME
and Linux in general and I can't figure this out.
I've installed all of the 0.27-0.28-0.28.1 RPMS, but I get this when I run
*any* gnome app:
** ERROR **: sigsegv caught
All of the RPMS installed without a problem, my gnome-libs package
verifies OK. What could possibly be wrong?
