Problems with Imlib 1.7

Hi,

After fixing a problem preventing me from compiling gnome-libs (thanks to all
who helped) I have hit troubles with gnome-objc and gnome-core.

I have imlib 1.7 on my system, and both the above packages fail to
compile, complaining about unresolved references. I have succesfully compiled
them now, by installing imlib 1.4, and remaking the symlinks in 
/usr/local/lib to the older library binary (changed libgdk_imlib.so, and
libImlib). This has got past the immediate compile problem, but I have another
app on my system (wmakerconf) that wants Imlib 1.7. Surely gnome should
compile with a newer version of the library? Do I need to do anything
unusual when I configure Imlib for building?
