On 23 Apr, Smith, Nathan A., Capt. shouted:
-> Hi again,
->
-> Yesterday I decided to upgrade my system (in my continuing efforts to get
-> gnome to work). I downloaded the packages from the CVS site on redhat (the
-> rpms). I also went to the Enlightenment site and downloaded the lastest png
-> package (again in rpm format). And went about installing everything. And
-> vola... the gnome apps worked and I was in heaven. Unfortunately, that was
-> very short lived as enlightenment, eterm, and eplus (all great apps) all
-> went to hell. Infact, Eterm gave me the following error when I tried to
-> start it:
->
-> Eterm: error in loading shared libraries
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so.0: undefined symbol: crc32
recompile. eterm, enlightenemnt etc need to re-line o the NEW libpng.
->
-> Remembering what Rasterman stated I realized I needed to recompile so I went
-> off and tried to do just that. Now given this was only a minor change, I
-> did not expect to have any problems recompiling...but that did not turn out
-> to be the case. The first program I tried to recompile was Eterm, which
-> gave me the following errors
->
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:77: undefined reference to `Imlib_init'
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:86: undefined reference to
-> `Imlib_load_image'
-> pixmap.o: In function `resize_pixmap':
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:413: undefined reference to `Imlib_render'
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:416: undefined reference to
-> `Imlib_copy_image'
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:419: undefined reference to
-> `Imlib_destroy_image'
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:432: undefined reference to `Imlib_render'
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:437: undefined reference to

-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:440: undefined reference to
-> `Imlib_destroy_image'
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:452: undefined reference to

-> pixmap.o: In function `set_bgPixmap':
-> /Eterm-DR-0.8-pre5/src/pixmap.c:692: undefined reference to
-> `Imlib_destroy_image'
it hasn't even tries linking to Imlib.
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `deflate'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `inflate'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `inflateInit_'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `crc32'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `pow'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `deflateInit2_'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `inflateReset'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `deflateReset'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `inflateEnd'
-> /usr/lib/libpng.so: undefined reference to `deflateEnd'
did you install the new libz? libpne needs libz (zlib)Panel.png
-> Trying to recompile eplus did not get that far as configure complained,
-> "compatible imlib not found"
eplus wants imlib < 1.0
-> And in both cases configure wrote out "png_read_image in -lpng ...no"
configure doesnt link libpng cause u dont have libz to go with it.
-> Strangely enough the gnome apps seemed to work just fine.

-> So, what could be the problem and how do I fix it?
->
-> Thanks in advance.
