gmc can't seem to find gettext

Hi, although I've installed gettext and gnome-libs, when compiling mc, it
refuses to compile in the "gnome" dir.

/usr/local/lib/libgnomeui.so: undefined reference to `dgettext'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [mx] Error 1

Any ideas?
