CVS Errors

I've been unable to pull down a copy of the Gnome CVS repository.
Things proceed along fine until I get to the balsa directory, at which
point I get a steady stream of lines like:

  cvs update: warning: unrecognized response ` int code;' from cvs server

Is there a problem, or something I can look into?  I need my daily
dose of Gnome!  TIA,
