Yeah they should translate. Think of the two strings as:
The label on the property editor.
The tooltip on the property editor.
i.e. say I have a spin button for this "y" property in a GUI builder.
The label of the spin button might say "Y", and the tooltip might say
"Y position of the canvas group in item coordinates" or something.
I think it's fair to say that simply "Y" is a crappy tooltip.
