Regexp for glib - PCRE ?

 I wonder if the regexp support for Glib mentioned in TODO.xml there
 is based on the perl compatible regular expression library or not?  I
 bet it would be the way to go, especially if it supports perl's zero
 length assertions, etc.  Those would be really handy to have for
 coloring source code, for instance.
